Michelin Mountain Bike Tyres

This tyre is available in a mud and a dry version for XC racing, using dual compound tread which in the mud version is a mix of small block and paddle shaped knobs. Reviews for the Michelin XCR mud show good results in wet fluid conditions, although the tread does clog in clay or sticky areas and it doesn't appear to grip as well as might be expected on roots and wet rocks. However it is pretty tough and also wears well.

The Michelin XCR dry is exactly that judging by reviews, in that you would not be wise to use it anywhere wet or sandy as it gives unpredictable results. That's not unexpected as it has an almost continuous centre tread in a hard compound. This makes it fast on dry, dusty or rocky terrain and it is also reported to be very tough in terms of avoiding cuts or damage.

As a specific tyre for these conditions the Michelin XCR dry is highly rated.
